I am on the road from South Dalton heading for the Enthorpe junction, which is behind me, where evidence of the disused Market Weighton to Bridlington railway can be seen. Looking back, down the hill towards Etton and South Dalton there is a discrete monument, the starting point of the oldest horse race in the country. It has been run once a year, every year for over 500 years. Though in war years it was walked rather than raced. This A3 print is rather special, it shows the rolling Wolds landscape, with fields full of crops. It is an ancient area, the quiet beauty sleeping in peace, seemingly unchanging and immune to modern day pressures. Not far away is Goodmanham where the ancient and important church of All Hallows retains significant importance in the Christian age.
