Near Holme On The Wolds, 12x10 inch original painting.

I walked George at Holme on the Wolds looking for a picture to sketch in my landscape sketchbook. But, when I saw this view I decided to have a go with my pochade box and do a painting. I saw the gate had been left open and that cow parsley was vigorously growing all over it to the point of almost completely hiding it. The old farmhouse and associated buildings of Holme Wold House can be seen on the right, with the Wolds contouring behind. Buttercups brighten up the verges augmenting the cow parsley, cat's tails and in places, campion in particular with crosswort and white dead nettle somewhat hidden. Sadly, nearby, one of my favourite animals, a hare, had been the victim of a collision with some kind of vehicle. I spent a moment thinking about it. After walking George and setting up I made steady progress, the temperature was quite chilly, such a change from sunny, hot weather earlier.
