I have painted many views of the area around WARTER Village in the past few years. A lot of these were produced using a pochade box. This painting used a French easel. The view is what people would see driving down Bailey Lane towards Warter. This view changes as the season progresses. It becomes a magical trip. One of my ideas when painting is to record ash trees. Sadly, these are suffering from ash die-back disease meaning views can change dramatically. The far rolling hills glow with oilseed plants, yet the sky is broodingly dark. The view is looking north, the sun is behind me.
