A lovely hot May day with Hawthorn blossom looking like icing on a cake, made me want to try and capture the effect. Distant hedges are topped with May blossom icing making them shout 'I am here'. In the foreground we have plantain standing with halos of cream petals slowly ascending the dark flower head. This painting was done by me standing at my easel in hot sun. It took a long time, looking and adjusting the proportions. The sky was beutiful with wispy suggestions of clouds from the right hand side. The growing crop in front of me seemed to have maroon seed heads which looked colourful as the gentle breeze made them appear to be rippling.
