Black Mill, Beverley, original watercolour, approx 22 x 15 inches ( half imperial )

One of my older watercolours from 2002. This is an original work on heavy weight watercolour paper, measuring approx 22 x 15 inches. It is one of a series of watercolours featuring East Riding views. Others include Beverley Minster from the Westwood in early morning and Etton Pond. This will look good in a frame and I would recommend Ford Framing of Beverley.
This view also is significant as it shows both the poplar trees at the Mill. Only one survives now and another tree has also been planted. The grasses always fascinate me, the red seedheads at certain times can look very dramatic. To stand on the Westwood in the deep grass with cattle nearby chewing the cud and martins chirruping as they fly around at head height is wonderful. This painting reminds me of these times.
